THEfollowingdaywasasfineastheprecedingone。SoonafterbreakfastMissMatilda,havinggallopedandblunderedthroughafewunprofitablelessons,andvengeablythumpedthepianoforanhour,inaterriblehumourwithbothmeandit,becausehermammawouldnotgiveheraholiday,hadbetakenherselftoherfavouriteplacesofresort,theyards,thestables,andthedog-kennels;andMissMurraywasgoneforthtoenjoyaquietramblewithanewfashionablenovelforhercompanion,leavingmeintheschoolroomhardatworkuponawater-colourdrawingwhichIhadpromisedtodoforher,andwhichsheinsisteduponmyfinishingthatday。
