AndwhenthiswarhasdraineduncountedhundredsofmillionsmoreoutoftheUnitedStatesexchequer,willtheybericherormoreinclinedtopaydebts,orlesswillingtoevadethem,ormorepopularwiththeircreditors,ormorelikelytogetmoneyfrommenwhomtheydeliberatelyannouncethattheywillcheat?IhavenotfollowedtheHeraldonthe“stone-ship“question——thatgreatnavalvictoryappearstomenotlesshorribleandwickedthansuicidal。
