Whiletheywerecrossingthepastureground,thebrazenbullscametowardsJason,lowing,noddingtheirheads,andthrustingforththeirsnouts,which,asothercattledo,theylovedtohaverubbedandcaressedbyafriendlyhand。Theirfiercenaturewasthoroughlytamed;and,withtheirfierceness,thetwofurnacesintheirstomachshadlikewisebeenextinguished,insomuchthattheyprobablyenjoyedfarmorecomfortingrazingandchewingtheircudsthaneverbefore。Indeed,ithadheretoforebeenagreatinconveniencetothesepooranimals,that,whenevertheywishedtoeatamouthfulofgrass,thefireoutoftheirnostrilshadshriveleditup,beforetheycouldmanagetocropit。HowtheycontrivedtokeepthemselvesaliveismorethanIcanimagine。Butnow,insteadofemittingjetsofflameandstreamsofsulphurousvapor,theybreathedtheverysweetestofcowbreath。
