Yes,theretheywere­UncleAlecswinginghishatlikeaboy,withPhebesmilingandnoddingononesideandRosekissingbothhandsdelightedlyontheotherassherecognizedfamiliarfacesandheardfamiliarvoiceswelcomingherhome。

ArchieremainedtohelphisunclegettheluggagethroughtheCustomHouse,andtheothersescortedthedamselshome。Nosoonerweretheyshutupinacarriage,however,thananewandcuriousconstraintseemedtofallupontheyoungpeople,fortheyrealized,allatonce,thattheirformerplaymatesweremenandwomennow。Fortunately,Jamiewasquitefreefromthisfeelingofrestraintand,sittingbodkinwisebetweentheladies,tookallsortsoflibertieswiththemandtheirbelongings。
